Jamie McLellan: Furniture and Product Design

Jamie McLellan is a New Zealand product and furniture designer with 25 years of international experience. His approach begins by reducing a design to its central idea or detail, then giving that element greater emphasis. It is a process he describes as equal parts minimalist and maximalist.

His experience at Allbirds further developed this approach, where he designed around the specific qualities of fibres and materials while gaining a deeper understanding of their environmental impact. Now based in New Zealand, McLellan brings this combination of material awareness and focused design thinking to his independent practice.
