Founded in Paris by Jean-François Dingjian and Eloi Chafaï, Normal Studio calls its approach “elementary design”. The duo considers manufacturing tools and processes from the earliest stages of a project, making production an integral part of how each design is developed.
We always work to promote elementary design. This means lesser attachment to the formal research of an object as compared to the tool that creates it, acting as the guiding star in the initial sketches for any project. Our approach has a deep attachment to the social and cultural values found within design, helping us creates timeless objects that go beyond trends.
Normal Studio: Shaped by the Process
Jean-François Dingjian and Eloi Chafaï founded Normal Studio in Paris in 2006. Their industrial design practice gives particular attention to the tools, techniques and processes used in manufacturing. These practical considerations are explored from the earliest stages of a project rather than resolved after the design has been conceived.
