Allan Nøddebo: A Contemporary Approach to Woven Furniture

Allan Noddebo’s furniture is shaped by a close relationship between the design process and the realities of production. Since establishing Studio Nøddebo in 2011, the Danish designer has worked directly with furniture manufacturers to develop pieces that bring visual expression, comfort and commercial practicality together.

Noddebo’s collaboration with Feelgood Designs began in 2012 and has developed into a significant body of seating. Rattan has been central to the partnership since 2015, supported by Nøddebo’s direct involvement with prototype development and production in Indonesian factories. This knowledge is evident in furniture that uses woven surfaces alongside slender metal structures, including seating designed specifically for indoor and outdoor conditions.

Rather than treating production as the final stage of a design, Noddebo considers materials, manufacturing and use as part of its development. The result is furniture designed to work beyond the drawing board, with construction, comfort and durability resolved for the environments in which it will be used.
