Czech designer Lucie Koldova and Israeli designer Dan Yeffet began collaborating in Paris in 2010. Their lighting explores the qualities of glass, light and material contrast, bringing traditional craftsmanship together with contemporary forms. Their work for Brokis includes the Muffins, Balloons and Shadows collections.
Lucie Koldova & Dan Yeffet: Statement Lighting
Lucie Koldova and Dan Yeffet began collaborating after meeting while working with designer Arik Levy in Paris. Bringing together Koldova's sensitivity to glass, proportion and material with Yeffet's interest in craftsmanship and new production techniques, the pair developed a series of lighting collections that helped establish their international reputations.
Their work with Czech lighting manufacturer Brokis has produced Muffins, Balloons and Shadows, each exploring the relationship between light, handblown glass and other materials in a different way. Muffins pairs generously proportioned glass with a solid timber base, while Balloons pushes handblown glass to an unusually large scale around a floating reflector.
The Shadows collection, available at Huset, takes inspiration from traditional atelier lamps and reinterprets their familiar silhouettes in handblown glass. Different glass forms sit over a conical timber neck, combining the delicacy and translucency of glass with the warmth of timber. Designed individually or arranged in clusters, the pendants demonstrate Koldova and Yeffet's ability to transform familiar lighting forms through material, proportion and craftsmanship
