Mattias Stahlbom is an architect and designer based in Stockholm, where he is a partner at architecture and design studio TAF. Working across products, furniture and architecture, his approach centres on finding new possibilities within familiar forms, materials and functions.
Stahlbom values uncomplicated ideas and the ability to achieve more through simple methods and materials. Rather than adding unnecessary elements, his work often begins with something recognisable and introduces subtle changes that alter how it looks, functions or is experienced.
His work has gained international recognition and has been exhibited at institutions including MoMA in New York and the Swedish National Museum in Stockholm. Through his work with TAF and collaborations with brands including Muuto, Stahlbom has developed a body of work that demonstrates how ordinary objects and materials can take on a new identity through thoughtful design.
