Studio Kaksikko
Founded by Salla Luhtasela and Wesley Walters, Studio Kaksikko is a Helsinki-based design studio known for its hands-on approach to materials and making. Their work gives familiar homewares a stronger visual expression through sculptural shapes, tactile surfaces and distinctive details.
We consider ourselves “formgivers” before designers, and our process of working with our hands from an early stage has a large influence on the designs that we create. We also produce our own designs by hand in small series, so our familiarity with wood and ceramics lends both an attention to detail and a practicality to our designs that reflects our understanding of these materials. We share a desire to design and make things that people will use until they wear out.
Studio Kaksikko: Elevated Homewares with Presence
Salla Luhtasela and Wesley Walters founded Studio Kaksikko after meeting at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. Working across ceramics and furniture, the Helsinki-based duo shares an interest in how materials are shaped, made and experienced through touch.
Their homewares make a statement through bowls, vases and planters through strong silhouettes, textured surfaces and pronounced details. These qualities give each piece its own visual identity, whether displayed alone or used as part of the home.
