Our aim is to make ordinary life less ordinary through subtle but effective changes in how products and architecture appear and function. A recurrent departure point in our projects is that everyday objects, by their obvious commonness, can be made uncommon.
TAF Studio: Familiar Forms, Reconsidered
Gabriella Lenke and Mattias Ståhlbom founded TAF Studio in Stockholm in 2002 after studying Interior Architecture and Furniture Design at Konstfack. Their work spans architecture and product design, with a particular interest in recognising familiar forms and finding new ways to interpret them.
TAF Studio often makes construction and materials visible rather than concealing how a design is made. Familiar references are adjusted through changes in scale, proportion or construction, giving furniture and lighting a new expression while keeping their purpose immediately understandable. This approach is evident across the studio's work for Muuto, where TAF Studio has developed an extensive body of furniture and lighting
