Benjamin Hubert is the founder and Creative Director of London-based LAYER, a multidisciplinary design agency established in 2015. His approach combines research into human behaviour with industrial design and engineering, developing products around how people interact with and experience them.

Material exploration also plays an important role in Hubert's work. His lighting for Muuto demonstrates this through the use of sprayed cocoon material, where microscopic strands form the shade and diffuse the light. The technique gives the material both a structural and functional role while creating the distinctive appearance of the lighting.
