Before embarking on a design career, Jan Padrnos began his career as a machine engineer. Before long, he was pursuing his interest in architecture which led him to furniture and product design. In collaboration with TON CZ and through his design firm Blackbox, Padrnos has created a host of products with unusual forms in everyday objects that allow us to infuse our spaces with an avant-garde sensibility and unconventional, high art feeling.
Whether it’s Padrnos’ cubist inspired bookshelves, his two side vase or his Tee coat rack—his designs all have an unconventional architectural feel that speak to his unique vision for forms, spaces and design. A participant in the Czech Design Show and an exhibitor in the Moravian Gallery in Brno, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, the National Technical Museum and the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec highlights the artistic aptitude and experience Jan Padrnos brings to everything he creates.
With his distinct minimalist flair, a sense of purism and not a little constructivism, the products of Jan Padrnos work well in modern home interiors alongside other original pieces. Jan graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague and opened BlackBox, his own design firm, in 2000.
