Margrethe Odgaard: The Experience of Colour
Margrethe Odgaard has built her practice around a deep study of colour and textiles. After graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design in 2005, she worked with textiles in Philadelphia and Paris before establishing her Copenhagen studio in 2013. Her work investigates how colour changes through its relationship with material and light, and how these combinations influence our experience of a space.
Textile construction is an important part of this exploration. Different fibres, weave structures and surfaces alter how colour is seen and felt, allowing Odgaard to work with both visual and tactile qualities. Her work with Muuto demonstrates this approach through rugs and textiles that use variations in weave, texture and colour to create depth and sensory contrast.
