Cover Armchair Leather by Muuto

The upholstered Cover Chair by Muuto is a strong yet light wooden armchair which takes molded veneer to its extreme. Cover Chair was designed by Thomas Bentzen: "Cover is from a desire to create a comfortable and contemporary armchair in wood. I aimed for a crisp and vivid expression in the plywood while looking for a solid and grounded look in the frame and base of the chair."

 

After 3 years of development, Danish designer Thomas Bentzen unveiled his upholstered Cover armchair for Nordic design house Muuto to wide acclaim. Expanding on his signal achievement, a luxurious upholstered version has been added to the series. 

 

With a sturdy beech or oak wood frame, and ingenious curved backrest that stretches into armrests, The upholstered Muuto Cover chair is appealing on its own as a statement chair or as a set in a professional or private setting.

 

All wood: PU lacquered oak. Form-pressed wood veneer shell. Coloured version: seat and shell is made from ash, while frame and legs are made of solid beech wood.

The Cover Chair is the result of playing around and pushing the boundaries of how to work with molded plywood.

 

”We give the designers the freedom to create new designs,” says Muuto co-founder Peter Bonnén. Inspired by the Finnish word “muutos” that alludes to having a new perspective, the company aspires to update Scandinavian tradition for a new generation.
