Generous Comfort, Simple Lines

Designed by Norwegian studio Anderssen & Voll for Muuto, the Rest 3.5 Seater Sofa offers a generous interpretation of the classic sofa form. Its deep, inherently soft seat is framed by broad upholstered arms and substantial back cushions, creating an embracing silhouette with plenty of visual softness. Small folds in the upholstery bring subtle definition to the expansive form, reflecting the Rest Series’ balance of deep comfort and simple, friendly lines. Upholstered in Hearth, this larger 3.5 seater has a warm, tactile presence, while slender black metal legs lift the substantial body from the floor. At 260 cm wide, its extended proportions give Rest a confident presence suited to larger living spaces and open interiors.

Designed from the Inside Out

Anderssen & Voll approached the Rest Series from the inside out, allowing comfort to shape its proportions and expression. Beneath the upholstery, a plywood and HDF frame made from FSC™-certified wood combines with zig-zag springs, cold foam and wadding to form the sofa’s soft, supportive structure. Measuring 260 cm wide, 92 cm deep and 72 cm high, with a 42 cm seat height and 60 cm seat depth, this 3.5 seater maintains the low, deep profile that defines the Rest family. The Hearth upholstery is paired with a black metal base, bringing a sharper detail to the otherwise soft and generous design.
