In 2000, New York designer Sandy Chilewich introduced her first woven textiles to the international design community. Each year her collection grows through her tireless experimentation and passion for different manufacturing techniques. “I am continually exploring for new materials that combine beauty and functionality and for underutilised manufacturing processes that, with design input, can be modernized,” says Chilewich.

100% of Chilewich woven products are made in the USA. Their textiles are made into tabletop and flooring designs with state of the art equipment in their own facility, and under their watchful eye ensuring the highest quality.
Chilewich is making a significant environmental development by replacing the petroleum-based plasticisers in they yarns with phthalate-free, renewable vegetable compounds. They call these innovative new yarns and the fabrics made from them TerraStrand™. TerraStrand™ is 100% phthalate-free, and contains 25% vegetable content. Almost all their woven products will be made from TerraStrand™ by 2015.
