Anderssen & Voll
Founded by Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll in 2009, Anderssen & Voll has become an established name in Norwegian design. The duo sees their different perspectives as an important part of the creative process, challenging one another's ideas to develop furniture with its own identity.
Scandinavian design isn’t merely a label to place onto products—it’s a commitment by Muuto to let the brand grow dynamically in companionship with the emerging ideas and concerns of young Scandinavian designers. The term functions as an invitation, a challenge, and a motivating element to us as designers.
Anderssen & Voll: Design Through Different Perspectives
Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll established Anderssen & Voll in Oslo in 2009, following their earlier work together as co-founders of the Norwegian design group Norway Says. Their studio has since developed an extensive body of work across furniture, lighting, textiles and home accessories for international manufacturers.
Their partnership is shaped by discussion and differing points of view. Rather than seeking immediate agreement, Anderssen and Voll use their individual perspectives to question ideas and develop them further. The studio describes this process as a way of bringing personality to a design, allowing each piece to develop its own identity rather than working to a fixed stylistic formula.
This approach has led to a particularly extensive collaboration with Muuto. Huset's representation includes several of the studio's major furniture families, with seating forming a significant part of the range. Their own portfolio also demonstrates the breadth and longevity of this relationship, including Rest, Oslo, Outline, In Situ, Doze, Settle and Echo.
