Fermob

Fermob large colour selection and a modern look – these are the trademarks of the French label Fermob. Originally a company manufacturing iron gates, the founder's son started producing garden furniture in 1953 – with success. Today Fermob offers a large product selection: Garden tables, garden chairs or garden armchairs, serving trolleys, sun loungers, or garden benches – all of them are available in loud, beautiful colours, like pink, orange, red, or green, but also in more subdued colours like black, grey, or white. The Bistro Metal folding chair design classic is still available even today. Its inspiration was the original “Simplex” model, which was used as early as 1889, especially by innkeepers: Because it could be folded and stowed away in no time, it spared them from having to pay the business tax for a fixed terrace. In the following years, Fermob's forge produced lots of other garden furniture made of metal, but soon the new synthetic material rivals started troubling the company. Only when Bernard Reybier took over the company many new ideas were developed. Young designers were engaged and designs like the Dune collection by Pascal Morgue became important milestones in the company's history. For this collection was the first to incorporate plastic mesh with a metal frame. Even today the collection's lounger, folding chair, and folding armchair contribute to Fermob's success. The Luxembourg collection is based on a garden chair designed in 1923 and is being redesigned for Frédéric Sofia's 80-year anniversary, as well as upgraded with garden benches and garden tables. Fermob is becoming braver and braver by testing many surprising designs and trying out new technologies. A criss-cross weave of high-density technical resin is utilised for the Sixties collection – Frédéric Sofia used it to cover curvy metal frame of the Sixties garden armchair. On the other hand, the Surprising Lounger armchair with footstool by Harald Guggenbichler is made entirely of weatherproof lacquered metal. All products by Fermob are mainly manufactured of rolled sheet steel – this makes them robust and stable. A UV-resistant powder lacquer protects them from the sun and the rain, so they may stay outdoors for an entire season with no problem at all. Timelessly beautiful, fresh, young, and especially colourful – this is Fermob!
