Muuto: New Perspectives on Scandinavian Design

Muuto approaches Scandinavian design as an evolving tradition, building on its foundations of functionality, craftsmanship and clear expression while exploring new ideas, materials and techniques. Its name comes from the Finnish word muutos, meaning “new perspective”, reflecting a philosophy of looking at familiar forms and functions in new ways. Through proportion, colour, material and detail, Muuto gives furniture and everyday objects a distinct expression while keeping their purpose clear.

Designers play an important role in bringing these perspectives to the collection. Muuto works with established and emerging creative voices, allowing individual approaches to form, material and function to sit within a recognisable design philosophy. Huset's range includes work by Anderssen & Voll, Iskos-Berlin, TAF Studio, Thomas Bentzen and Mika Tolvanen, among others. Across seating, tables, upholstered furniture and lighting, timber, textiles, steel and moulded materials are explored according to the character and function of each design.

Huset's Muuto collection extends across dining chairs, stools and tables, lounge furniture, modular sofas, shelving and storage, lighting, rugs and smaller objects for the home. This breadth allows Muuto to work across an interior, from a single chair or pendant to larger furniture settings. Collections including Fiber, Visu, Oslo, Outline, In Situ, Stacked and Linear demonstrate the different expressions within the range, connected by close attention to material, proportion, colour and everyday function.
