Studio Olgoj Chorchoj was founded in 1990 by designers Michal FronÄ›k and Jan NÄ›meÄek. Some things are jst better together. The two designers met while studying at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. With an easy working relationship and finding enjoyment in collaborating, the two partners worked through their studio in many different areas--industrial design, design of furniture, architecture and interior design. Both Michal FronÄ›k and Jan NÄ›meÄek continue to lead the workshop of design products at the Prague Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design.
Michal FronÄ›k and Jan NÄ›meÄek have been the recipients of a number of awards over the years including the Grand Prix of the Architects' Union and the Interior of the Year award. With exhibits at home and overseas, the partners of Olgoj Chorchoj are kept busy. One week they show at Salone del Mobile in Milan and then off to Vessel in London.
A more recent collaboration with legendary European furniture manufacturer TON has been among the duos most successful ventures. With TON, Michal FronÄ›k and Jan NÄ›meÄek created a range of Simple Dining Chairs. Working in tandem with TON, the goal is to create something that adheres to TON’s old world quality while delivering a new and more contemporary offering to their high end wood and bentwood furniture. The Simple dining chairs were incredibly well received and continue to be in production.
